Applying to the College

Potential applicants should carefully research the College of Education's academic departments and degree programs to make sure that study at the University of Illinois coincides with personal career goals. Students interested in a research degree are particularly encouraged to contact faculty members whose research corresponds well with their own interests. All students should also consider other factors that can contribute to academic success, including student support services and life in Urbana-Champaign. Once potential applicants have decided on a program in the College of Education, and on studying and living in Urbana-Champaign, they should review application requirements. Because application requirements vary from program to program, it is especially important that applicants make sure that they understand the requirements specific to the program they have chosen.

Applicants should begin the process by reviewing the information provided by their department and program of choice. Applicants to undergraduate-level study should review application information from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.  Once familiarized with degree program application requirements, those interested in graduate-level study should also familiarize themselves with the Graduate College, the administrative unit that oversees all graduate applications at the University of Illinois. All students coming from abroad should be aware of International Student and Scholar Services, which provides a broad range of services for students who come to the United States to study at the University of Illinois. These resources can answer many of the questions applicants frequently have. However, applicants to the College of Education are also welcome to contact their department of application and the Office of International Programs.
