Biography

Casey George-Jackson recently completed her doctorate in Educational Policy Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her interests merge sociology of education with evaluations of educational policy. Her current research interests focus on studying underrepresented students' access to and retention in higher education, as well as evaluating related federal, state, and institutional policies.

Casey's dissertation investigated the representation and persistence of undergraduate women in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields at five public land-grant universities. She is currently involved in a number of research projects focused on improving representation of women, minorities, and low-income students in the STEM fields, including projects funded by the Alfred P.
