Description Items in a pool of computer-based testing (CBT) are usually administered over a period of time. To maintain the integrity of the items during their life time or over the period, potential security risks need to be controlled, which is typically achieved by monitoring the performance of items to ensure that no significant changes have occurred. The objective of thisstudy is to develop an on-line item monitoring procedure to identify items whose performance has changed from the original when the pool was established. Note that item leakage might not be the unique reason causing items' changes in performance. Other factors such as unreliability of original item parameter calibration and scale drift may also be contributors.
